It is believed that the William that died in Mobile was the son of the Josiah Beasley (b. NC.) that lived in Lowndes County. Our William is the son that was hung as a deserter, even though he had a written furlough in his pocket....His mother, Elizabeth and his sister, Jane Beasley Martin, are said to have buried him in the Mt. New Hope Cem. where his parents and youngest sister, Marzie Malone Beasley Smitherman, were later buried. (Source: Barbara Cobb Rowe)
