      Samuel was in the Revolutionary War. After the close of the war he
      built Knox' Fort in the state of GA for protection against the
      Cherokee Indians. The fort still remains, and is known as Knox's
      Fort.. He and his brother, Benjamin, were appointed executors of his
      mother, Jean's, Will.
