  • Notes
    • During Duncan's reign, the north and west of Scotland were conquered
by the Northmen, under Thorfinn, Jarl of the Orkneys. Duncan's cousin,
Macbeth, Mormaer of Moray, joined forces with the Northmen, and put
Duncan to death 14 Aug. 1040, and Macbeth then ascended the throne.
      Duncan's reign was 1034 -1040 AD.

Duncan began the rule of the Scots which lasted from 1040 - 1371 until
King Robert II of Stewart. King Robert's reign began the Royal House
      of Stewart.
